    Introduction: 本系教學目標旨在培育具國際觀的GREEN環保管理專業人才。GREEN定義為,綠色經濟-Green economy、資源管理-Resources management、環境科技-Environmental technology、生態永續-Ecological sustainability、自然保育-Natural conservation。   為因應全球化的挑戰與課題,國內政府未來施政之兩大主軸,ㄧ為執行政府改造方案、提升國家競爭力,二為挑戰2008、推動國家發展重點計劃,這兩大政策之施行,均與本系成立之宗旨相互輝映。在政府改造方案的規劃中,重點在於將「永續發展」的新公共價值觀導入,對於我國目前之環境資源管理工作,分別由不同部會掌理,造成權責分散,難以整合的現象,提出完整的解決方案加以矯治。因此,未來將成立整合性的「環境資源部」,將環保署、內政部、經濟部、交通部、農委會等相關單位整併。這種在生態環境永續發展的基本原則下將相關權責機關予以整合的劃時代創新思考,將可增進政府對環境資源的管理品質與效能。   另外,在挑戰2008所推動之國家發展重點計劃中,其目標在於營造台灣成為綠色矽島,計劃內容與本系專業均有相關;其中,設立環保科技育成中心(本校已於成立94學年正式成立育成中心,由本系廖志祥教授擔任中心主任)以推動台灣成為國際環保創新研發基地,並以綠色產業為計畫推動之四大重點產業之一,環保科技園區之設立為開發建設產業園區之重要工作,觀光客倍增計畫對於環境規劃與生態保育導覽人才之需求亦同樣倍增,最後,水與綠建設計劃著重於資源管理、環境復育與綠色營建。以上各種政府規劃進行之重點工作,在在顯示環境資源管理專業之重要性與受重視的程度。
