According to World Tourism Organization, tourism has experienced continued growth and deepening diversification to become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. Today, the business volume of tourism equals or even surpasses that of oil exports, food products or automobiles. Tourism has become one of the major players in international commerce, and represents at the same time one of the main income sources for many developing countries.
This study is based on the "Backpacker" as a research subject and use internet questionnaire. There are four parts in the questionnaire, such as "Respondent Information", "Tourism Design", “Companion Conditions" and "Destination". Questions are made to prove the preferences of the backpacker’s design tour, explore the design and execution of the backpacker's tour. The questionnaire is subject to those who had an individual travel experience or backpacker experience abroad. 516 questionnaires were collected, and 500 valid questionnaires were used after deducting 16 invalid questionnaires. Analyze the statistical results of the questionnaires using narrative statistics and graphical presentation.
In summary, for the 500 respondents, the key factor that most likely affects the design of the tour is the “security situation”. Up to 356 respondents (71.2%) believe that the safety of the tourist spot is more important than the length of the travel time, the convenience of transportation and the preferences or language skills of travel companions. The security situation should be considered and evaluated before the design of the tour.
