This research paper lays its focus on the phonemic awareness in less English language learners’ discoursal processing, especially in their listening and reading responses. The test participants are sampled from one southern university of technology in Taiwan. Their aural and reading performances are further computed by Paired-sample t-test and Pearson coefficient values. The research results reveal that the phonemic awarenss fail to exert its expected influrneces upon the discoursal processing. What counts most lies in the overall textual organization, background information, and the topic familiarity.
