White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a unique large dsDNA virus. Because of its uniqueness, infection strategy of WSSV is still unknown. In this study, we characterized a nonstructural protein, WSSV071, from WSSV Taiwan isolate. The wssv071 ORF encoded 130 amino acid residues with a deduced the molecular mass of 14.45 kDa. In order to explore the interaction between WSSV071 and related proteins, we performed a yeast two-hybrid screen. WSSV071 was used as bait in yeast two-hybrid screen interacting with a Penaeus monodon cDNA prey-library. Our result showed that WSSV071 could possibly interact with WSSV524 and P. monodon hemocyanin and transgluctaminase, respectively. These information will help us to establish WSSV pathogenesis.
