    摘要: 英語是世界共通的語言,更是目前國際化社會必要溝通工具,如何有效提升英語 學習能力,更是目前許多國家重視的議題。隨著資訊科技的發展,傳統英語課程也逐 漸導入資訊輔助之概念於學習活動中,而適當地結合科技環境與良好的閱讀策略指 導,除可強化學生語言與閱讀的理解能力,進而還能提高語言學習之效益。另一方面, 相關研究顯示,運用電子書以文章閱讀方式進行英語學習,有助於改善一般以英語字 彙學習不足之處,並促進學習者了解字彙之關聯、文句之涵意、段落之組成。有鑑於 此,本計畫則建置一套英語閱讀電子書系統,並運用閱讀引導輔助機制於英語閱讀的 過程中,電子書除提供一般常見的輔助功能外,還增加了翻譯(字彙、片語、文句、段 落、全文)、發音及朗誦等功能,而文章的閱讀引導機制則依據文章關聯度、文章困難 度、與學習者能力程度,進行動態且即時的個人化文章選讀建議。本計畫除分析學習 者英語學習成效、系統滿意度及認知負荷外,還會依據後端學習歷程之資料,進行深 入的學習行為之分析,不但探討行為間之順序與關係,也藉此能了解學習者於使用電 子書進行英語學習時之行為模式和操作程序,並提供未來相關研究之參考。
    English is an international language. It is also a necessary communication tool for the international community. How to effectively improve English learning ability is an important issue in many countries. With the development of information technology, the concept of information assisted instruction has been gradually introduced into English courses. Adaptive integration of technology and reading strategy not only strengthens students’ language ability and reading comprehension, but also promotes the effectiveness of language learning. Moreover, related studies showed that reading articles for English learning on an e-book can improve on the deficiencies of only learning vocabulary and help students understand the vocabulary association, textual meaning, and paragraphs composition. Therefore, this project will design an advanced e-book system for English reading and construct article reading guidance mechanism in the English learning process. In addition to providing general assistant functions, e-book will support convenient functions of translation (words, phrases, sentences, paragraph, and full text), pronunciation and recitation. Article reading guidance will provide dynamic and real-time personalized article recommendation according to the analysis of article correlation, article difficulty, and learners' ability. This project not only will analyze the English learning effectiveness of learners, system satisfaction and cognitive load, but also will explore and discuss the learning behaviors based on in-depth analysis of learning portfolio. Learning behavior analysis in this project not merely investigate the sequence and relation between behaviors, it also can aid understanding of the behavioral patterns and system operating procedures when the learners have English learning activities on the e-books. All of the analysis result can be provided as a reference for future relative research.
