    Title:
Groundwater chemistry and assessment of hot spring resource in Changhua and Yunlin, Taiwan
Most of the hot springs in Taiwan are distributed in mountain areas. Because of the alluvial layer covering on the plain and the effects of cold ground water, most of the springs in the plain area are not naturally formed. And most of the hot springs’ explorations and developments in the plain area are almost rely on drilling. The researchers before had been used the groundwater observation data from the Water Resources Agency in Taiwan to discuss the possible distribution of ground temperature and hot spring reservations for the Jianan Plain and Zhangyun Plain. The ground temperature distribution of Zhangyun Plain had been studied, however, the water qualities have not been discussed. According to the Hot Spring Law in Taiwan, the temperature of the hot spring must be greater than 30℃, and the water qualities must meet with any kind of the hot spring standards. There for, this study explores the water quality composition of observation wells in Zhangyun Plain, the wells that may form springs, and analyzing whether the water quality meets the hot spring’s standards . The water quality data for this study was taken from the water quality database of the groundwater observation network. The study found that the total dissolved solids in the three monolayers of Dongshi did not meet the hot spring standard, but if the sieve of the Dongshi second aquifer was added and the second aquifer was sieved in the same well, the temperature and total dissolved solids might be All can reach the hot spring standard. The total dissolved solids, chloride ions and iron ions of the two aquifers of Yiwu III and Yiwu IV can meet the hot spring standard. It can be seen that Dongshi and Yiwu meet the conditions for the development of hot springs without considering the limitation of strata depression.
