Isolation of the sex pheromone of the female American cockroach,Periplaneta americana L。, has been collected and isolated by a combination of extraction and chromatographic procedures. Progress through these procedures has been followed by bioassay. The sex pheromone has been isolated by gas-liquid chromatography and characterization by infraed spectrometry is proceeding.
