Abstract:	半夏為一種多年生的草本植物，屬於天南星科。半夏常用來治療噁心，嘔吐，尤以對妊娠紋引起的嘔吐效果更加。然其作用及有效成分尚未明瞭。今以貓為實驗動物，欲探討半夏及其成分---methionine,giucuronc acid 及 glycine的鎮吐作用。貓經靜脈注射 Cedilanid-D 或口服硫酸銅來引發嘔吐，而以半夏煎劑，methionine,glucronic acid及glycine分別試其鎮吐的效果，結果分述如下: 1.半煎藥劑不僅能防止 Cedilanid-D所引發的早期嘔吐，同時亦能防止或延長口服硫酸銅引起的嘔吐。2.口服硫酸銅所引發的嘔吐可被口服 METHIONINE 所防止，但靜脈注射Methionine 則此無效果。3.Glucuronic acid 及glycine 對cedilanid-D 所引起的早期的嘔吐作用。由上列結果顯示，在半夏的鎮吐作用中應有Methionine, glucuronic acid 及glycine的參與，亦即Methionine, glucuronic acid 及glycine亦為半夏具有鎮吐作用的有效成分。
