摘要: An innovative flow reactor was designed and tested for removing nitrate from aqueous solution
in the presence of Fe0 and CO2. Important parameters explored in this study include CO2 bubbling
    rate (100-400 mL min-1), Fe0 dosage (40-80 g), influent nitrate concentration (30-200 mg L-1), and
influent flow rate (50-200 mL min-1). The result shows that the initial nitrate of 23 mg N L-1 was
    reduced to 2.9 mg N L-1 (87% nitrate removed) after 2.5 h, given 50 mL min-1 of the influent rate, 60
g of Fe0 dosage, and 200 mL min-1 of CO2 bubbling rate. The higher CO2 bubbling rate helps reduce
the reactor size, due to its enhancing effect on nitrate removal. To suppress the effluent nitrate level
below its threshold limit, a measure can be manipulated by using higher Fe0 dosage and higher CO2
bubbling flow rate. In the field application, it is highly recommended to operate the system by step
additions of desired Fe0 dose at proper time to maintain both the effluent nitrate and iron levels
    below their regulatory limits.
