The research mainly focused on the electrolysis disinfection to maintain the recreational water quality, SPA and hot spring pools. In this paper, a new technique-electrolysis disinfection process was used for SPA and hot spring water. The application of electrolysis technique were evaluated in this study, the experiments were carried out under different raw water quality and electrolysis dosing. The electrolysis equipment was performed both in Chia-Nan University and Tai-An Hot-Spring Resort. The water of Chia-Nan University’s SPA was pH 7.9~6.3, temperature 30℃, ORP 100 mV and the conductivity 350 μS/cm. The results indicated that the free chlorine value at 0.6 mg as Cl2/L can reduce the Heterotrophic Plate Count(HPC) to satisfy the water quality standard which was regulated by Centers for Disease Control, R.O.C. (Taiwan CDC). The raw water of Tai-An hot spring was pH 8.6~9.2, the temperature 38 ℃, ORP-265 mV, and the conductivity 3900 μS/cm. The result indicated that HPC can reach the Taiwan CDC’s water quality standard when residual free chlorine was adjusted 0.55 mg as Cl2/L. The operation costs for two pilot experiments were also evaluated, the capital cost of electrolysis treatment was NT$0.04/ton for SPA water and NT$0.02/ton for Hot spring water, respectively.
