The purpose of this study is to explore the critical factors affecting the continuance of drug identification system based on an extended IS continuance model which is mainly coming from previous results of Bhattacherjee and Premkumar(2004) and the concept of trust. The survey methodology will be deployed with the subjects being the undergraduate students of the night program of a southern school in Taiwan. A two-stage data collection procedure will be conducted and the collected data will be analyzed using the structural equation model technique with LISREL software. The expected contributions of this paper can be summarized as follows. Firstly, this study can conduct an in-depth examination to investigate the potential factors (including trust, perceived usefulness, expectation disconfirmation, attitude, satisfaction, and continuous intention) affecting the continuance of drug identification system and the time effects on those investigated factors. The results of our study can provide several insights through the comparisons with previous findings of Bhattacherjee and Premkumar(2004). Secondly, the concept of trust, which is considered as an important factor for physician-patient relationship, used in this extended model can help us to extend this concept with the concerns of medical information and the relationships between trust and previous mentioned factors will be further explored. Finally, the results of this study will provide an important basis on investigating the critical factors influencing the use of medical related system and it can also be used as useful suggestions for system improvement.
