The reducing behavious of five 3-substituted-y-formylsydnones were studied with dropping mercury electrode including the influences of acidity, concentration, solvent and supporting electolyte. And the possible reaction mechanisms were discussed by the relations of half-wave potentials, limiting current and pH-values. According to the results of the polarographic and UV spectrophotometric methods, the reducing potentials of 3-substituted-4-formylsydnones obey the modified Hammett equation.
