Abstract Macrocycles 3a-e, 4a-d, and 5a-e could be synthesized by di(2-hydroxy-3-methoxycarbonyazulene-l-yl)methane (2s) with various ditosylate polyethylene glycols in a high di;utfon condition in a moderate yields(40-60%). By changing the cyclization pathway, an increasing total cyclizing yields is improved to more than 90%.
