The study makes assessment on the catalytic conversion degradation efficiency of different-period motorcycles. Three kinds of factory motorcycles (Brand S, Y, and K) motorcycles are adopted as experimental types of motorcycle. The motorcycles of each factory are environmental standard Period three, four and five, respectively, four-stroke engine 125 CC air displacement motorcycles were used as experimental motorcycles.
Experimental procedure adopted idle speed, 30km/hr, 50km/hr, load-carrying 30km/hr, and load-carrying 50km/hr, after measured values were recorded respectively, new exhaust pipes of original factory were replaced to experimental motorcycles, and above steps were carried out again, then compared the two times measured values. However, test before and after catalyst exhaust were analyzed respectively, motorcycle usage mile number, fuel consumption, and exhaust temperature were recorded respectively, in addition, actual motorcycles were used as converters that replaced new catalyst; exhaust data were measured after the motorcycles had traveled 1000km, so as to know the conversion efficiency value of motorcycle catalyst. For exhaust gas analyzer, HORIBA-MEXA441GE gas analyzer was used to measure the concentration of HC, CO and CO2 in motorcycle exhaust gas.
Experimental results indicate that the concentration of HC, CO and CO2 measured under the conditions of idle speed, 30km/hr, 50km/hr, load-carrying 30km/hr, and load-carrying 50km/hr complies with exhaust gas standard. According to inter-comparison before exhaust and after exhaust, when pollutants are degraded through catalytic converter, their concentration has the trend of reduction. Before idle speed exhaust, the measured values of CO of Brand S, Y, and K are 3.77%, 1.51%, and 0.87%;after exhaust 1.32%, 1.80%, and 0.62%; compared with newly replaced catalytic converter, the values are 1.03% and 1.09%; Under the condition of 30km/hr, values are 3.82%, 2.87%, and 1.53%; after exhaust 1.82%, 2.08%, and 1.12%; after replacing new exhaust pipe, values are 1.54% and 1.62%. Under the condition of 50km/hr, 3.92%, 2.73%, and 1.63%, after exhaust 2.44%, 1.12%, and 1.35%,after replacing new exhaust pipe, 1.63% and 1.01%; for load-carrying 30km/hr, before exhaust, 2.73%, 2.18%, and 1.34%; after exhaust 1.74%, 1.85%, and 1.13%; after replacing new exhaust pipe, 1.54% and 1.52%; for load-carrying 50km/hr, before exhaust 2.52%, 2.31%, and 1.31%; after exhaust 1.34%, 2.06%, and 1.31%; after replacing new exhaust pipe, 1.08% and 1.83%. Whether engine combustion condition has completely influence on discharged CO, HC, and CO2.
