The medical research had confirms that spring water contents rich chemical elements and had a lot of benefits for human health, such as skin protection, smoothing and anti-free radical effect. The purpose of this study was to understand the benefits of spring water to skin care by the evaluative research of cell protection and human skin care. The hydrogen carbonate spring water was used in this study to assess the effectiveness of skin care and the relevant mechanisms. In this study, B-16 mouse melanoma cells as experimental material, and the free hydroxyl radical was generated by hydrogen peroxide to induced cell death or melanin formation. Co-culture with hydrogen peroxide free radical in the 24 hours, the cell survival rate were 74.14 ± 1.79% and in 48 hours later cell survival were 72.68 ± 6.01%, which compared with the PBS control group had a statistically significant. In the experiment of B-16 mouse melanoma cells to evaluate the single cell release rate of melanin, the hydrogen carbonated spring water was able to slow down melanin production (0.914 ± 0.061) that compared with PBS controls melanin production rate (1.049 ± 0.055), had statistically significant. The results was found that hydrogen carbonate spring water has the ability to scavenging free radicals, to protect cells, to increase cell survival ratio, and slow down the melanin production. The evaluation studied in dermatology had shown that hydrogen carbonate spring water was able to increase the skin brightness, lower irritation and relief the allergic conditions.
Through this research that hydrogen carbonate spring water was produced the cell protective and cosmetic effects for skin care. However, in this study, only the use of hydrogen carbonate spring water as the experimental samples to evaluate the effects of skin care, furthermore, to understand the different hot springs on the effectiveness of skin care will be discussion on the other research. The results also suggested that the hydrogen carbonate spring water may be suitable materials to development related products of cosmetics. The results may expect a greater contribution to promote the rapid development of spa related industries.
