Ever since the Music Appreciation course for Junior college students is launched as a compulsory subject for the non-music majors, all colleges have been putting in effort to make this course an enjoyable and relaxed one for these students, who generally think that music is merely singing songs or memorizing facts of basic theory and have absolutely no knowledge in notereading, and to arouse their interest in music, thus learn how to appreciate the aesthetic value of music. This thesis is divided into 5 sections. This first section "Preface" states the motives and aims of my research as well as discussion on the reports about the music appreciation. The second section gives an analytical account of what the subject Music Appreciation means, its definitions, characteristics and approaches. In the third section, some classical music repertoire, suitable as learning materials for the Junior college students, are presented. The fourth section examines some suitable and coherent teaching methods that can be used for the junior college students, and in the last section, which is the "Conclusion", states what I would like to see achieved in the near future and my hope, which is my urge to all the colleges to spend more time on this course so that the students would cultivate a love and appreciation for music.
