    Abstract: 五言律體完成於沈佺期、宋之問及杜審言等人。杜氏屬對精工,氣象開闊,論者推為五律作手。本篇先介紹作者的遭遇、個性、交遊,蓋作品之風格即其人格之反應,有助於對其詩風的理解。杜氏詩注重鍊字琢字,文法活潑,涵義豐富。其風格上之主要表現為:(一)講究鍊字藝術:1.對具雖白描,有雙關的蘊含。2.好用「獨」、「坐」等字。3.末聯有明顯的呼應和收束。(二)工整華麗的形式。(三)嘔見戲謔篇章。詩的氣象,是情感與自然的磅礡結合。杜詩氣象渾偉自然,是肇立以後五律格高體尊的因素。初唐氣象開闊的背景是南北一统,人人進取,政府興學崇文。其具體的原因為:(一)風氣開放,文人創作自由。(二)諷鍊獻賦獻詩,克獲獎助。(三)同僚唱和,寵則同慶,貶則互相慰勵。杜氏詩的特質即在其氣象,尤其是其中的情意運轉。其氣象的表現為:(一)雄偉而沈鬱。(二)悲涼而奮起。(三)送行詩鼓舞踔厲。(四)首聯直接喚醒的親切效果。又五律〈和晉陵陸丞早春遊望〉,向來備受矚目,元明以來認為是杜審言的名篇,名故應麟稱之為「初唐五律第一」。此篇首聯拉拔,頷頸二聯描寫早春光景之鮮活變化,節奏靈巧,氣象弘曠。近年學者考證以為應系韋應物之作,元以後作者之名始遭傳。然尚有學者在賞析時保留元明舊說,置於杜氏名下。
