The research on relations between civic culture and socioeconomic development started with Weber, which focuses on the relation between ethics and economical development. Putnam (1993) reported that the geographic distribution of civic culture has remained roughly the same for 100 years and that civic culture can explain its relationship with socioeconomic development at the turn of the century. Many researches followed this issue and extend to different region (Rice & Sumberg 1997; Scheneider, Plumper and Bauman 2000; Rice & Arnett 2001). This research extends this analysis to Taiwan, and regression analysis to examine the relations between civic culture and socioeconomic development in Taiwan.
