Earthquake, thunder and fire were often used to describe the austere image of traditional father. Is traditional father really like the terrible earthquake, thunder and fire? And is a modern Japanese father still majestic and terrible when they are compared with the traditional father? Generally speaking, the modern Japanese father is in a weak state now because of his absence from home. According to the research, the modern image of father has been slightly changed since the change of social type and work type as well as the increase of nuclear family. In order to understand how the image of a modern father has changed and how important a Japanese father is in a family now, this study makes a questionnaire to find the answer to these two questions. In conclusion, through the questionnaire the image of a modern Japanese father id shown and a perfect father is established from the sight of the kids.
