This study was to explore a new shampoo for pet dog according to the isoelectric physiology of pet dog hair and skin. There were four stages for completing this work: (1) measuring the pH of some commercial dog shampoos, (2) detecting pH on the dog skin, (3) developing some new formulas of dog shampoo and (4) investigating the safety of new dog shampoo. Results show that the pHs of the commercial dog shampoos are between 6.01-8.06. However, the pH on the dog skin is in the range of 6.00-6.50. The new dog shampoo developed in this study has a similar pH range with dog skin. In addition, the evaluation of the new shampoo for the irradiation on dog skin is negative. Therefore, this new shampoo can be applied for commercial purpose.
