The nutritional state during pregnancy is a major factor of pregnant outcome. The purpose of this study was to assess the dietary intakes and nutritional status in Chianan District of Taiwan. The study was carried out from Jan. 2006 to Feb. 2008.The dietary intakes of this cross-sectional study were assessed by 24-hr recalls; anthropometic assessments;the biochemical assessment of Folate, vitamin B12 and iron was performed. We recruited 374regnant women from the obstetric clinics in 3 levels of hospitals.Te participants’ average age was 29 years old, pre-BMI was 21.3 kg/m2, The average energy intakes in the three trimesters were 1351.3 Kcal, 1548.7 Kcal, and 1661.5 Kcal, The results showed that some nutritients average was below the Dietary Reference Intakes (≦75 %DRIs ). The pregnant women experienced morning sickness during their first trimester, giving them inadequate intake of protein, calcium, phourous, riboflavin and vitamin E.
